3D modeling has always been an important part of paleontological research and interpretation, though digital reproductions of fossils are recent phenomena. Our 3D scanners with a point accuracy up to 0,1 mm can scan complex shapes, texture and tricky surfaces and are able to generate highly accurate digital reconstructions that can support significant levels of magnification.

We can capture surface detail of delicate fossils in the field in 3D before they are excavated to provide an in situ record of a fossil or a site with all geological landmarks and levels before it is disturbed.

The scans allow high precision realignment of serial sections and the development of a digital model library for research, comparison of specimens, protection of valuable pieces, referencing, or collaboration with other palaeontologists.
